It is a scientifically proven fact that bodily movement produces endorphins that elevate mood, reduce stress, and promote overall well-being. In this session, we will come together to go one step beyond the physical benefits of dance while experimenting with our bodies and trying to perceive it as a means of self-expression which will hopefully strengthen our mind-body connection. No dance background is needed but be ready to improvise and use your creativity. Improvisation might sound like a big word but be sure that you have done it many times in clubs and parties. After all, that is dance in its purist form and is the only thing needed for this session!
About the speaker
It has been 15 years since Dilek Demiray mother finally gave into her daughter’s nagging about signing up for ballet classes and agreed to drive her to and from her dance school. From that moment on dance meant much more for Dilek than fancy costumes and fairytales. She fell in love with it more and more every passing year and placed it at the center of her life.
Along with having performance experience with many classical and contemporary works as a group and soloist dancer Dilek is also a certified ballet teacher with experience of working with socially disadvantaged and disabled children. She dreams of finding a way to integrate dance into her career goals and promote it as a tool to tackle social problems.
