Skill Share: Using design thinking to encourage social impact

May 23, 2017 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm UTC+8

Much is said that to create a true social impact and succeed in what you do, you have to discover the needs and motivations of the people you are targeting, to value your life with what you offer.
It sounds good, but in day to day reality it needs to be asked: How do you get it? We are not talking about doing a mega market study, because we are not interested in quantity but the quality of what we find out and build solutions.

A simple example: It does not help if a person tells you not to recycle without knowing the many reasons behind that answer, it is in one of those reasons where you can find a solution that is desirable for them.

This approach is important in any project to minimize wasting time and money, but if we seek social impact it’s vital to include it. In this talk, Raquel would like to share her personal vision of Design thinking, how she uses some of its techniques, how she hacks them and what tricks she has been learning over time through a real project.

What you will learn:
● How to learn from real people (your users) and identify value insights to solve
● To create and build better solutions
● Practice tips to begin applying design thinking to your own project or work

About the speaker:
Raquel is a UX Researcher, Service Designer and Creative Facilitator for Social Innovation. Her work consists of improving the experience of the people in services and products, understanding their problems and deep motivations to create solutions closer to what they need. She is also a co- founder of UX & Service Design consultancy in Spain (YADEMÁS Thinking Mates) and helps companies (like Consum oBalearia) to improve or create new services and products. She combines this with training about Human centered innovation universities including Florida Universitaria or Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera. She is from Spain and is now traveling around Indonesia and Thailand to find new job collaborations with high social impact projects.
